They're definitely Ukrainian. In the background, there was Cyrillic text--Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, and other Slavic languages all use the Cyrillic alphabet, so you're right about it looking like Russian. However, if you look closely, there's blue, and beneath it, yellow on the board/wall behind them. That's the Ukrainian flag. Also, the text says "Ukraine's Got Talent".
