@vulgarpurity but there is an undeniable fact, Vietnam as the whole, from North to South are proud that they have their whole country to cherish. And it is estimated in 30 years time, VN will be surpass South Korea and tie with many first world countries. I live in Vn and i am not doubting it, major developments are announced and put in construction every day, and i am talking about multi billion dollars projects

@vulgarpurity S.Korea is not considered a developing country because the US is supporting and backing everything they do. Vietnam never had that help after the war. If you visit Vietnam right now it will feel just like S.Korea with out Seoul. BTW Here is also one of the theories about Korea, If Korea ever unified the country will go broke trying to support the North. I'm in Korea right now and all my friends have the same sad family story.  Just like our Civil war family's were torn apart.

@vulgarpurity it's because vietnam is not divided into two countries anymore like in the past, it's now a country ran by a communist government. The communists won the war and so they now control both the north and the south (of Vietnam).

Imagine if your country was suddenly split in two and you lived on the south side. Now it is two nations. Two nations that shared the exact same history together. Your Parents, Siblings, Friends, Spouse, or Child, are on the other side. You will never hear from them again. More than 50 years later, you have grandchildren who live with a different train of thought that don't naturally think of the North as the same country, but a different one. This is the tragedy of the Korean War. Respect.
