I have no idea why this is called a muslim dance, Ka Singkil looks more oriental...
This dance is a dance based on an epic which has nothing to do with religion. I'm just surprised that you call this dance a Muslim dance. The Visayans and the Tagalogs, whether Muslim or Christian, had been dancing this ever since it was introduced by the Maranaos via their epic poems. Religion has nothing to do with it.
Bravo ang galing nyo sasayaw din kami ng ganyan :D
I have never done Singkil before and I have to do it for my senior piece next week! aaah! I have to choreograph it myself too.. thanks for the inspiration tho! :)

medyo mahirap yata toh eh...second year pa kmi...ako pa yung magdadala sa sari manok..
Don't give up. My mom, who is from Basilan, Mindanao and grew up with this dance first hand (my lola was a moro, and her father was a datu), taught many students at the University of Florida how to do this dance. It's hard...harder than the tinikling by far. But when the audience goes dead quiet and roars with applause when you are done...it's worth it :)
were trying to di this dance but where only 1st year how can we do this!!!! its very nice
cute ]
The first part is Pangalay - by the Bayanihan Dance Company, and the second part is Singkilan - by Pinikpikan. :)
