Thank you. 1. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Dancing plays an important role in a culture. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Yes, I agee with the statement that dancing plays an important role in a culture because it relatively expresses and reflects the country's way of expressing art, music and tradition. First of all, with dancing a person can display art by their choice of costumes, designs or prints in their chosen fabric, and their choice of color that they use to convey their artistry as a group. For instance, a native tribe would wear colorful clothing with various prints of plaids, floral and stripes. This is enhanced by their accessories like: bangles, bracelets, coral necklaces, and anklets. In addition to that dancing is a part of a country's culture in music. In our country Philippines, it shows the richness of our culture in music by exhibiting variety of folk dances like Tinikling, Sayaw sa Bao folk dance, and a lot more. For example, a Tinikling dance uses two to four bamboo sticks, danced gracefully by a man and a woman while dancing to the rhythm of bamboo strikes on the ground. On the other hand, Sayaw sa Bao Folk dance uses coconut shells strapped around the dancer's body while striking the coconut shells producing a rhythm of unique music. These two examples showcase our country's authenticity of the use of resources to produce a unique musicality in dances. Finally, I believe dancing reflects a country's tradition. This tradition is passed on from generation to generation in which the present people carry it on during fiestas, historical events and town's inauguration. Even at present most people would dwell to the modern way of dancing and choice of music, it is still pleasant to my ears when I hear old music and traditional beats. In conclusion, because dancing displays a country's art, music and tradition it plays a major role in a country's culture. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. While some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, travelling to the moon and the other planets, I believe that governments whould spend the money to Earth's basic needs. Basically, I understand how people work so hard to earn a living to support a famiiy's basic needs, it is but practical for the government to prioritize the country's basic needs to promote better living to the people. More importantly, the government should provide funding to increase an employee's salary, lesser taxes and more job opportunities to the people. Firstly, if the government will plan and increase basic salary rate to an employee, people can catch up to the fast rate of increasing commodities like food, housing, and gas. For instance, a regular employee earning $7.95 per hour who can get an increase atleast $10.00 per hour will have additional money to cover up for utility bills like power, water and cable services. Secondly, the government should decrease the people's taxes in that way, we can make use of our earned money for our family's leisure and recreation. It is very important that a family would spend time together for leisure and fun at times to promote better relationship with each other. Lastly, the government should open more opportunities to the people in terms of employment. People who are unemployed and were having a hard time looking for a job will be a burden to the society. This people will have to depend on the government's benefits like food stamps, child benefits and government's housing assistance. The government provide big budget for all government assistance program wherein they are teaching these people to be lazy by their own means. A better opportunity will mean job for everyone and these people will not be couch potatoes. In summary, if the government will focus in providing the people's basic needs then earth will be a much better place to live in.
