@hetismij21 the javans and the chinese and the malays are our ancestors.. they are the reasons we came into being as modern day filipinos, spanish are not.. that may be the reason why spain is viewed as the bad guys.--because they were racist.

@ThtOnePinoy Bathala is only the sovereign God of the Tagalogs... so that doesnt count the whole Philippines.... there are a lot more different deities in the philippine mythology

it's funny how the big agressor is said to be spain as what is being taught by historians all over the world. while in fact we never hear about the asian colonists such as the javans, chinese and how about the certain clans fighting each other before the arrival of the spaniards.

@marshmallu As you already have said, religion and culture are two different things, regardless going back to pre-spanish filipino culture will be better for all of us in the end, and theres nothing wrong with still staying catholic while you're at it, hell we have our own term for diyos, it's Bathala, where do you think the saying "bahala na!" came from? :P

@yt532em a lot of cultures in asia were influenced by india, however spanish culture was practically shoved down our throats, besides our dances have our own touches to them as well.

before the spaniards came to philippines,philippines was already influence by indian culture...................

This doesn't look a filipino dance at all. It's super modernized... Yung original nito would be "Pangalay Ha-Patong" a tausug dance.

I agree with going back to the filipino culture before spain came to colonize it, it was so rich and beautiful, but we shouldn't be too extreme, since we've been introduced to two religions, let people decide which religion they choose to follow. Religion and culture are two different things. But i love Philippines as much as you.

Xtianity was use as oppression/slavery tool by old spain, erase culture in philipine, mexico etc. Islam gave idea to resist/preserve culture/land, which would you choose? have you heard of Sultanate of Manila. they were massacred by old spain, they are one who resist bastardazation of the country. thres no race as Filipino, you are malays, you are descendants of Sultans. old spain put hatred w/ muslims so u fight their war in mindanao, wat did u get? poverty. study ISLAM n go back to culture

well i believe its their own interpretation.. kaya nga "theatre"... in dancing, there is no limitation... they did not do a traditional dance.. but an interpretation.. and there's a big difference..

I can just laugh at all the comments....i stand neutral hahhahaha.....if the Ha Patong dancers could flex more muscles or gain some abs, biceps and triceps and dance like a man...it may not look like an "eklat-eklat" performance.....mahirap ding mag-isip ng choreo ha....peace!!!

mataas ang entertainment value ng sayaw nato. bilang isang manayaw ng ramon obusan at alun alun ni amilbangsa ang tawag ko sa sayaw na yan ay EKLAT EKLAT...wala akong sinasabing masama huh!
