Wow! mesmerizing, professional, unique, are some of the comments for Ksaduratan and Wow! fun, exciting, fabulous! for Tubong Dance. "I say FANTA-BULOUS!" Angie Tudio, one of the audience in the crowd gushed. The crowd were impressed at the performance held on saturday, March 6, 2010 at the most recent Asian Festival held at Town Square. "I have seen many folk dance performances but this is amazing! I will definitely make an advanced purchase of the tickets for their show this summer!", she added.
Indeed, it was a very different dance compared to what we normally see. The ladies danced "Kzaduratan", which is a muslim princess dance with colorful handkerchief. This dance originated from the region of Mindanao. It was a very precised, measured dance, complete with the facial expression of a "snobbish, elegant muslim princess" and the bobbing head movement, at the same time, very seductive and sexy dance. It was very refreshing to see and everyone enjoyed it. The costumes were elegant and very flamboyant! The gentlemen performed a very cheerful dance, typically seen at a town fiesta, Tubong (bamboo pipes).
The crowd cheered on along with the dancers. "It was a very lively dance and I couldn't help but clap along with everyone else", according to Elliot Franco.
These performances are just a "sneak peek" of what is in stored for us for their August 7, 2010 show at The Clark County Library. It is choreographed and under the artistic direction of none other than Freddie "Roskie" Durano, featured dancer of The Original Bayanihan Dance Company of the Philippines. |
